But, in my opinion, that's part of the charm. If you see only one witch museum on your visit, this is the one I recommend. This is the original witch attraction in Salem and has been in operation for 50 years. I wish I could get a refund for the money I spent on this experience, as all my family truly got from it was a few good laughs at the weird theatrics. If you are looking for any artifacts or a recount of the Salem Witch Trails with historic dates, RUN, don’t walk, away from this museum. Calling this site a museum is a stretch of the word. I cannot stress enough how theatrical and almost comical this experience was. At this point in time, we had had enough and we left early. We were then led into a room with more scenes and figurines where another recording played. The gift shop was filled with tacky knick - knacks and did not try to hide the commercial nature of the museum. There was then an “intermission” where we were led to the gift shop. The tour included a strange show, consisting of a recording playing while spotlights shone on different figurines positioned in different scenes. The museum itself felt very small and had a very theatrical feel. I took my two teenage daughters to Salem for a small day trip and decided to reserve a tour of the museum to pass some time. We spent what I considered a lot of money and I couldn't believe they can call this a museum. We waited to be led to another room but the tour was over! Several people asked"That's it?". The remainder of the exhibit in this room were plaques to be read.

Next you were escorted into a room with 3 glassed-in store windows (poorly done, one had just a Halloween witch on a broom) as you listened to a 3 or 4 minute recording. It gave a nice summary of history if that's what you were expecting. You had to spin yourself around to see each scene. Each scene was lit one by one as a recording explained the witch history. Around the room were mannequin scenes explaining the history of witches. You then entered a circular room and sat on metal benches in the middle. Out they rushed to enter the door on the right on rush back using the door on the left. We told them no, they had to get stickers.

After a few minutes other people entered asking about the stickers.

I held the door open to call in other tourists. After that I was the only one who found out on my own that you have to go inside using the door on the lef. No, you have to go inside on the right and get stickers and then return outside. After that we joined other tourists who got in a line outside thinking they were all set. Be aware that tickets must be purchased on-line at a kiosk placed right outside the door. The check in experience should have told us not to continue with this attraction.
